The official position of the Catholic Church is that all available Covid vaccines are ethical and all Catholics who are able are encouraged to receive the vaccine. All employees serving in the Diocese of Hamilton are encouraged to be fully vaccinated or to submit to a Covid Rapid test every Monday and Thursday in order to carry out their responsibilities. Volunteer Liturgical Ministers are required to be fully vaccinated. Bishop Douglas Crosby, OMI, encourages every member of the Catholic Church within our Diocese of Hamilton to be fully vaccinated.
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
This note from a campaign participant was received by the One Heart, One Soul office, and I wish to share with you. “We are grateful to Bishop Crosby, our pastor, and our parish campaign committee for helping us know what our parish needs to thrive and giving us the opportunity to help these things happen.” The campaign in our parish is the same opportunity for us. Please consider participating if you have not done so. Make a pledge, contribute, and let’s grow our parish.
Peace and Blessings,
NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION
In June, the Federal Government passed new legislation making September 30 the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This commemorates the history and ongoing trauma caused by residential schools and is intended to honour the survivors, families and communities who continue to grieve for those who were lost. Join us for Mass at 8:30 am on Thursday, Sept. 30 to continue to pray for the healing of our nation. The Parish office will be closed on this day.
Please join us for an informal talk about Funeral Preplanning presented by Dignity Memorial on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 11:00 am in the St. John the Baptist Parish Hall. There will be a complimentary light lunch following the session. Licensed Funeral Pre-planners and Funeral Directors will answer all your questions. Proof of vaccination is required. Please RSVP to 905-547-1121 or to the Parish office at 905-544-2100.
