FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
PENTECOST: Happy Pentecost! We celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the Early Church. Through this celebration we are blessed to experience anew the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives as Children of God. During our Confirmation we received the Holy Spirit in a special way through the Sacrament. Who is the Holy Spirit to you? How have you given Him a place in your faith relationship with God?
ONE HEART ONE SOUL CAPITAL CAMPAIGN: Preparations are underway at St. John Parish for the “One Heart, One Soul” Campaign, and across the diocese, early returns are promising! Through mid-May, 14 Pilot Wave parishes had raised a total of more than $2.5 million, and an additional $1.6 million had been pledged by other diocesan supporters and organizations. That total is about 12 percent of the campaign’s $35 million goal. The Pilot Wave will run through June, and three larger, additional waves will follow as the campaign gathers steam and continues through early 2021. St. John is among more than 30 parishes and a number of mission churches taking part in the next wave. Through the summer, preparations will include forming a volunteer team, developing campaign materials and identifying projects. Kickoff Weekend is tentatively set for September. The campaign is aimed at strengthening parishes and several diocesan wide ministries.
St. John is part of the FIRST WAVE of the Campaign. We shall start preparing grounds for the campaign in June. However, the actual Campaign starts close to the end of the year 2019. The whole campaign will take a 3-year span. We have to raise $178,700.00 over 3 years for the campaign and we get to keep 70% of the funds for our needs. We can use the money for various needs of our Parish. We will all need to give a little extra when the time comes, No Pressure!
VOLUNTEERS FOR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN: I need volunteers for the One Heart One Soul Campaign. If you will like to help me, please meet me at St. John the Baptist Parish (128 Edgemont St. S. Hamilton), 6pm on Tuesday June 11, 2019. We shall have our maiden information session, and will have a coordinator from the Steier Group visit us to brief us on the way forward. God bless.
Grace and blessings.

“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.” John 14:26
The materialism of our society lures us to concentrate more on what we want than on what God wants for us. The relativism of our world tells us that we should be tolerant of all things, that there is no absolute truth. Pray to the Holy Spirit to transform our lives and to guide our thoughts, words and action.
