FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Dear friends,

Thank you for all the hard work that went into the preparation for the Picnic. The generous donations of food, prizes, music, activities, time and monies. It was a great success. Thank you to the St. John’s parishioners, family and friends.

The Pictures of the previous Pastors who served at St. John the Baptist Church are now on the wall, above the statue of St. Theresa, at the King Street entrance, where everyone can see them. Have a look and see if you can remember them.

It’s that time for holidays. Please be safe and remember your weekly Sunday obligations. We do not take a holiday away from GodThe office may not be opened every day, so please call to see if someone is in.  Messages will be checked.

Thank you.  Fr. Andrew and Staff.

VOCATION VIEW
“Can you imagine Jesus, facing His fate in the Garden of Gethsemani, deciding, “No, I’ll not go through with this?” No, vocation means perseverance.”
Jesus still speaks the invitation “Follow Me.” Pray for the strength and the grace of discernment if you feel He is calling you to be an ordained or consecrated person.
If you think God is calling you contact Fr. Michael King, Vocation Director, Diocese of Hamilton. 905-528-7988 ext. 2246.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS
“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sister. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather serve one another through love.” Galatians 5:13
We like to celebrate the fact that we are free to “live the good life.” But Jesus calls us to a different kind of freedom. St. Paul reminds us that Jesus sets us free so that we can serve one another, share our gifts and promote God’s work here on earth to glorify His name and not honour ourselves.

SPIRITUAL REFLECTION – FROM MOTHER TERESA
“Joy is prayer; joy is strength; joy is love; joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.”
