FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Dear Parishioners,
ST. JOHNS WILL NOT BE CLOSED DOWN OR MERGED TO ST. EUGENE:
Some people have been questioning me about whether St. Johns will be closed down and merged with St. Eugene. I wish to inform you that St. Johns will not be closed down and merged with St. Eugene. We should continue to love our church, live the faith and welcome more people to our parish community.
I wish to thank all our volunteers and parishioners whose love and faith is keeping St. John’s parish alive and serving our neighborhood.
IMPROVEMENTS AT ST. JOHNS: I have been planning a few improvements and repairs to our building and worship space with the Finance and Pastoral Council, and in consultation with the Diocesan office. Some of these improvements are minor and others are major. We shall communicate them to you as time goes on.
NEW VESTMENTS: We have purchased new vestments (Chasubles) which will be blessed next Sunday at the 9:30am Mass.
RELOCATION OF BAPTISTRY: In every church, the baptismal font should be prominent. It is the place we are born anew into the community of faith as children of God and disciples of Christ. It is a reminder of our baptism into the life of faith and grace. Our Baptistry is now located at the King St main entrance of the church so that it is more prominent. Symbolically it properly represents our gateway into the church and the rest of the Sacraments.
Let us continue to CONNECT with God and each other, EXPLORE our faith, GROW in Christ and SHARE our Time, Talent and Treasure.
Happy Summer!
Fr. Andrew

PARISH PICNIC
The Parish will once again host its annual picnic on Sunday, June 26 on Church grounds. We ask that families sign up on the sheets located at the entrances, with their name and the number of people in their party. Family members and friends are welcome. If you would like to help on the day of the picnic, please contact the office.

AN INVITATION FROM DEACON JOSEPH Di LORETO
Hello Friends,
I am leading a men’s retreat at Holy Family Retreat Centre in Oxley, Ontario on Friday July 22 to Sunday July 24, 2022.  It is a beautiful retreat centre on the shores of Lake Erie.  The theme of the retreat is ‘Resting with Jesus.’  It is an opportunity for men to recharge their spirit by spending time with Jesus.  Retreatants will have silence and solitude to unwind, reflect and pray with some Gospel passages.  I will introduce prayer techniques from the Catholic Spiritual Tradition.  There will be an opportunity for Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Please register at Holy Family Retreat House, 121 Victoria Street, RR1, Harrow, ON, N0R 1G0.  Phone:   519-738-6136.  https://www.hfrh.ca/.  (Online Registration will be up and running soon!)  The Cost is $280.00 which includes room, board and meals.  Hope to see you there.  If you have any questions, please leave a message for me at the parish office or email me at heydj@deaconjoseph.com.
Deacon Joseph Di Loreto.
