SACRAMENTAL LIFE OF THE COMMUNITY
Baptisms will take place on the second Sunday of each month at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. Please contact the office at least one month in advance.
OUR MASS HOURS
Saturday, Evening Mass: 5:15 p.m.
Sunday Mass: 9:30 a.m.
Wednesdays & Thursdays: 8:30 a.m.
Reconciliation: Saturdays from 4:30 -5:00 p.m.
If you would like a Mass celebrated for a special intention or in memory of a deceased loved one, please contact the office. The cost is $10.
If you would like to have the Sanctuary Lamp burn in memory of a deceased loved one, or for a special intention, please contact the office. The cost is $10, and the Lamp will burn for the entire week.
Located at the King St. entrance. Candles can be lit in memory of a loved one or for a special intention. The suggested payment is $2.
Parishioners who have prayer intentions are invited to contact either the Parish Office or Ginette Howatt (prayer network co-ordinator) at 905-549-4808 or 905-746-9976.
Cookies, Coffee and Conversation will be held the 1st Sunday of the Month, after the 9:30 a.m. Mass.
Also, remember to check the bulletin boards for updates on events, workshops, etc. Very interesting information.
The Catholic Register is available at the doors of the Church. Please take one. They are free.

We welcome Fr. Ralph, who will do the weekday and the weekend Masses here at St. John.
The Children’s Liturgy will be every week as usual starting in January at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. All children welcome.
INCOME TAX RECEIPTS
Income tax receipts for 2018 will be available in February when Fr. Andrew returns. Please remember that any Christmas donations to the Parish received in January will be reported on the 2019 income tax receipt.
SHOE DRIVE – Today is the last day, January 20th
Gently worn running shoes, casual shoes and sandals in children or adult sizes. Please no heels. These will be sent to the Wells of Hope in Guatemala. The contact person is Frances Potter. You can see her after the 9:30 a.m. Masses. Please leave the shoes, bagged up in the King Street Entrance. Also, we will be collecting backpacks with school supplies for the children and schools in Guatemala.
MARDI GRAS GAME NIGHT
Join us Thurs. Feb. 28 (7 to 11 pm) at the Knights of Columbus Hall for a fun evening of casino style games, bingo, food and more! Tickets are $25 until Jan. 31 and can be purchased after Mass at the King St. entrance.

We are also looking for prize donations – penny sale or smaller prizes – and volunteers to help run the evening. If you are interested, please contact the office.

NOVENA TO SAINT JUDE AND HEALING MASS
At St. Charles Garnier Parish at 128 Hughson St. South, Hamilton.
Novena begins on the 16th of January with adoration from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. Holy Mass and Novena at 9:00 a.m. On January 24, Adoration begins at 6:00 p.m.; Healing Mass and Anointing with Holy Oil at 7:00 p.m.
HAMILTON RIGHT TO LIFE
ANNUAL ECUMENICAL PRAYER AND CANDLELIGHT VIGIL to be held Friday, January 25, at 7:00 p.m. We will start with a time of prayer at the Canadian Martyrs Church, Main Street West, across from McMaster Hospital, followed by the candle light vigil in front of McMaster University Hospital. Refreshments will be provided afterwards.
January 28 marks the horrendous day 31 years ago when the Supreme Court of Canada took away the pre-born child’s right to life.

THE BOOK OF ISAIAH
When St. Jerome penned his famous line “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ”, he wrote it in his introduction on Isaiah, which he saw as the Gospel in Old Testament form.
You are invited to a presentation on the amazing prophecies of Isaiah, including many he made about the Messiah seven centuries before Jesus was born.
