FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK:
SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT: This weekend is the Second Sunday of Advent and we are invited by our Gospel reading from Luke 3:1-16 to prepare the way for the Lord’s coming. We all do put in a lot of preparation when we are expecting an important guest. Christ is our important guest at Christmas. Let us put in a great deal of spiritual preparation to welcome Christ in our hearts, homes, schools, work places etc.
SHOPPING: As Christmas approaches it calls for celebration. We shop for things and enjoy the life God has given us. As we shop let us not forget the poor and the needy, let us not be wasteful but caring, let us try to treat everyone with mutual love and respect. Let us show super love towards our families too.
SISTERS OF THE POOR OF JESUS: This weekend we welcome with joy the presence of the Sisters of the Poor of Jesus at our masses. They follow the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi. They live in Hamilton and do street ministry and care for the poor and needy. They have a fundraiser on the 16th of December, 2018, may I humbly ask that we support them to care for the poor and needy by purchasing tickets to their fundraising Dinner.
Have a Blessed Advent!
Sincerely, your servant and brother in Christ, Andrew.

We will now be doing Children’s Liturgy every 2nd week starting in January. The schedule will be posted on the bulletin boards in the coming weeks.
From Dec. 1st to Dec. 16 we are asking for help in providing gifts for those in need.
St. Vincent de Paul Society is calling upon you with a request to help the less fortunate during the Christmas season. The Tree will be located at the King Street foyer and paper Angels will be placed on the tree.
The angels will say: infant, girl, elderly person, etc. with sizes and suggested gift ideas.
General gift ideas include toys, board games, basketballs, mittens, hats, slippers, pajamas, movie passes, gift cards from Walmart, Tim Hortons or other places.
The gifts will then be returned wrapped or in a gift bag with the paper angel taped securely to the outside of the package for identification. Place your gift under the Christmas Tree. All gifts must be returned to the Church on or before December 16th.
If you are aware of anyone in the parish, a youth, senior or family who is in need of assistance this Christmas, please call the Rectory at 905-544-2100 and tell Rina or Lisa.

“And this is my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value…” Philippians 1:9-10.
Glittery holiday ads can blind us to our stewardship values and distort our needs and wants. It is important that during this season of endless buying we remember that each of us also has the need to give back to God and to those that are in need.
