From the Pastor’s Desk
Dear family of God, Merry Christmas!
Do not be afraid; for see – I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is the Christ, the Lord…” (Luke 2:10) These are the words of the angel to the shepherds about the birth of Jesus. The year 2020 has had its challenging moments and uncertainties for us all. In times like these we may be easily prone to despair, anxiety, frustration, depression and what have you. Through the celebration of Christmas God assures us not to be afraid, he is with us in Christ and will afford us his protection, blessings, salvation and joy. Let us keep trusting in him and welcome Jesus always into our hearts. May you find peace and joy this Christmas.
Envelopes are now available. They can be picked up at the King St entrance, or from the office during the week.
DONATIONS FOR 2020
Please have all donations for 2020 in by Dec 30 to have it included in your income tax receipt for this year. Any donations received after this date will be included in the following year’s income tax receipt. As always, thank you for your support and generosity.
CHRISTMAS MIDNIGHT MASS – CATHEDRAL BASILICA OF CHRIST THE KING, HAMILTON
His Excellency, Bishop Crosby, will celebrate Christmas Midnight Mass from the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, Hamilton. The Midnight Mass will be preceded by a Carol Service beginning at 11:30 p.m. Both the Carol Service and the Midnight Mass will be broadcast on Salt+Light Media and shared with CHCH-TV. The Mass will be repeated on CHCH-TV at 8:00 a.m. on Christmas morning.
Due to COVID restrictions, all seating for Midnight Mass at the Cathedral Basilica has already been reserved. Join us for the broadcast and share in the joy of this Christmas feast!
REGISTRATION FOR CHRISTMAS MASSES
Our Christmas Mass schedule is available on our website and posted on the bulletin boards. This year, due to Covid-19 protocols and attendance restrictions, we are encouraging parishioners to call the office to reserve seats for all family members who will be attending. Those who have not reserved will be seated on a first come-first serve basis, and once the Church is full, the doors will be closed. We are currently looking for volunteers to act as ushers for the Christmas and New Year Masses. Please contact the office if you would like to help.
PARISH PRAYER NETWORK
If you have loved ones on the Prayer Network, please call Ginette at 905-746-9976 or the office at 905-544-2100 during the last week of the month to update your prayer request if you would like it to continue. Call anytime for new prayer requests.
Missals are available at the King St entrance for $5 each. A limited number of Children’s Missals are available for $7 each. Please put your payment envelope in the collection basket.
ANNIVERSARY MASS 2021
As the restrictions from COVID-19 continue and for the safety of all concerned, a decision has been made to cancel the annual Anniversary Mass scheduled for June of 2021. Bishop Crosby would still love to offer congratulations to all those who will be married 25, 40, 50, 60 and 60 plus years in 2021, so there will be a chance to register your anniversary on line and a certificate will be sent to you. More information will be available in January about how to register.

Fourth Sunday of Advent: From the angel Gabriel, Mary heard God’s plan for her life and she said “yes!”…and so the Saviour came into the world. Pray to know God’s Will for your life, so as to help bring Jesus to our world. Is it possible God could be calling your name to witness to the Light of Christ in our day? If you think God is calling you to a Church Vocation, contact Fr. Michael King, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Hamilton, at 905-528-7988 ext. 2246, or email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the website hamiltondiocese.com
DIRECTIVES FOR OUR SAFETY
We ask that you continue to do a self-assessment before coming to Mass. If you feel unwell or have been in contact with someone who has Covid-19, please do not attend Mass.
Please do not remove your mask during Mass.
For Communion, an usher will be present and will usher one row at a time to the front. For those on the King St. side, please receive Communion from the Priest or Minister on the same side as where you were sitting. Do not cross to the other side. Communion must be received in the hand, then remove your mask, consume the Host and replace your mask before walking to your seat.
Offertory envelopes will be collected as you exit the Church at the end of Mass.
Parishioners sitting nearest to the doors should exit first, and please remember to physically distance inside and outside the Church.
We are always in need of volunteers, as it takes many people in order for all of us to share in the celebration of Mass. Please call the parish office if you are willing to help at one of our Masses.
Thank you for adhering to these safety directives. ***********************************************************************
